Talacauvery is the origin of the Cauvery river situated in the Brahmagiri Hill range of Kodagu district. The pond atop the hill is considered to be the origin of the Cauvery river and has water throughout the year. During Tulam Sankrama special rites are conducted in the temple adjoining the pond which attracts many devotees. Beside the temple there is a series of 356 steps which lead to the peak, from here the hills can be viewed.
It is auspicious to visit during Tulam Sankrama which comes during October. Avoiding rainy months September to March is the best time to visit.
At the summit there are no shops available. For any kind of small purchase one has to go to Bhagadamandala which is downhill 7km. Madikeri is the nearest place with ample amount of hotels for accomodation. The temple guest house also can be booked for stay.
