About Lepakshi


Lepakshi lies in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. Lepakshi is home to the Veerabhadra temple dedicated to Hindu deity Lord Veerabhadra. There are also two other shrines at Lepakshi dedicated to Hindu Dieties Vishnu and Shiva. The Veerabhadra temple was built by Virupanna the Treasurer of Vijayanagara Kings. The Veerabhadra temple has excellant sculptures and paintings dating back to Vijayanagara empire. Near to the temple there is a big sculpture of Nandi Bull made out of granite.

There are only a few shops at Lepakshi selling snacks and drinks. It is better to carry food while visiting Lepakshi. Hindupur is the nearest town with good hotels.

Reaching Lepakshi


Lepakshi is 110km from Bangalore.

Route 1: Bangalore - Hebbal - Yelahanka - Doddaballapura - Gauribidanur - Hindupur - Lepakshi.

APSRTC , KSRTC and Indian Railways runs direct services Bangalore to Hindupur. From Hindupur APSRTC buses are available to Lepakshi. Private cabs are available at Hindupur(15km away).
